People spend six billion dollars a year on dating apps, delete them, and download them again. Match Group is down 70%. Bumble is down 90%. The users know. Wall Street knows. But there is nowhere else to go.

The architecture cannot be fixed. It was never built to help anyone meet.

The Shift

Dating apps have a conflict of interest that no redesign can solve. When they match two people, they lose two customers. The model needs you to keep searching. Hinge promised it was “designed to be deleted.” Match Group paid $215M to buy it. Nothing changed.
